When we got engaged, ‘My Wife & I’ originally decided to do a funny first dance, then as the months went by, we thought better of it, thinking it might look a bit stupid and ruin the day. Then we went to Jen and Kev’s wedding 5 weeks before our own and witnessed their awesome first dance where they broke out into Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling, and it looked wicked. From that point on we knew we had to do one!
So for our wedding (September 9th 2011 @ Moxhull Hall) we had already decided our first dance would be to Bryan Adams – Heaven. We had come across Soulja Boy a long time prior to our wedding and although not a massive fan of most his stuff, the dance to ‘Crank Dat’ was a lot of fun and so we went with that in the middle.
I used Audacity to mix in all the songs, to make it look like the CD had skipped, and threw in a scratch sound clip to add to the authenticity. I also mixed in the Travis Barker drums version for the last chorus to add to the effect, and then of course the mix back into the end of Bryan Adams.
I think it went down pretty well with everyone there, we all had a great time anyway, see for yourself:
